The agreement between you and Lifevault. Clause 06 is the one that matters most: this is a notification service, not a safety guarantee, and you should read what it does not promise before you rely on it.
These terms form a contract between you and Lifevault Systems Ltd (Company No. 00000000, registered in England & Wales), registered at 1 Example Street, London EC1A 1BB, United Kingdom. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, do not use the service.
Lifevault monitors a check-in you perform, and when a check-in window closes without confirmation it runs an escalation sequence: reminders to you, then a notification to your highest-ranked guardian, then to your full roster, and finally — after a minimum of seven days — release of sealed vault items to the recipients you assigned.
Every interval is configurable except the seven-day vault delay, which is a fixed minimum and cannot be shortened by you, by us, or by anyone acting on your behalf.
The free tier is not a trial. It does not expire and does not require a card. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew until cancelled.
You can cancel at any time from settings, in one action. Access continues to the end of the paid period; we do not pro-rate partial months, and we do not require a phone call, a reason, or a retention conversation.
If a payment fails, your account falls back to the free tier rather than being suspended. The check-in and the first three escalation rungs keep working. We are not willing to let a declined card be the reason nobody was told.
We target 99.99% availability of the escalation system and publish incidents on the status page, including those that never reached a user. We do not offer a contractual SLA on the free tier.
Lifevault is a notification service. It is not a medical device, an alarm system, a care service, or a substitute for emergency services.
It cannot detect that something has happened to you. It can only detect that you did not tap. Those are different things, and the gap between them is where the service's limits live: a phone left in a coat pocket looks the same to us as a serious emergency, and a serious emergency in which you are still able to tap looks like an ordinary day.
Delivery depends on networks, carriers and devices we do not control. We cannot guarantee a message arrives, that a guardian reads it, or that anyone acts on it. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services rather than relying on this service.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, our total liability arising out of the service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £100. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and — given clause 06 — we are not liable for the consequences of an alert that was not delivered, not read, or not acted upon by a third party.
We may suspend an account that is being used unlawfully or to harass someone. Where we do, we will tell you why and give you an export, unless a law prevents us from doing so.
You may close your account at any time. On closure we export your data to you and destroy our copy within 30 days, as described in the privacy policy.
We will give at least 60 days' notice and keep the export function running throughout. The vault export format is documented so that your data remains readable without our software. We will not transfer vault contents to an acquirer without giving you the chance to export and close first.
We may change these terms; material changes are announced by email at least 30 days ahead. Continuing to use the service after they take effect is acceptance.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or EEA, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your local law.
